The Newmarket Card &
Comics Show is York Region's comic book and trading card show
from 2014 to 2022. After 16 years and 200+ shows (including
the Toronto Card Show), we have such a great sense of accomplishment and
have chosen to cap off our success on our own terms and while on a high note.
This decision isn’t one that was made lightly. Following
our 10th anniversary, we began to wonder just how long we would go.
But with our continued year-over-year growth, evolution from our original
location at Leaside Gardens, which had become dated and nostalgic, to the
Amsterdam Brewery in Leaside, which clearly had become the more popular venue
making the Toronto Card Show
even more of a fan favourite, it just wasn’t the time. Not to mention our
shows at other venues plus our
expansion with the Newmarket Card & Comics
Show, exciting player signings, and funds raised for Jays Care
Foundation, United Way, Easter Seals, and other charitable initiatives. There
were still many more years to go!
It's hard to say but it’s possible that our shows could have come to a conclusion
on our 15th anniversary instead of our 16th. What we did know was that it was going to take more than a global pandemic
to stop us from returning and culminating in the right fashion.
We had cleaned up the card show scene in 2006, raised and continued to
set the standard throughout our history, and are proud to finish things off
on such a high!
We have no future plans as we ride off into the sunset. But
